Update July 29th – Unemployment Extension 2010 Benefit Payments – Where Are They?
In continuation to our earlier article on scheduled releases of unemployment insurance checks under the unemployment extension 2010 bill, we are tracking the latest information at the state level.
Here are the following updates we got from the various websites of unemployment offices per state on the expected release of checks under the unemployment extension 2010 bill. This covers Nevada, Michigan, California, Florida, South Carolina and Illinois.
NEVADA (http://detr.state.nv.us/)
Nevada’s Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation posted a statement on its website on July 19 that said “Within seven to ten days of the bill passage, claimants will start receiving letters stating they are on the list of individuals potentially eligible to receive extended benefits.”
According to Cynthia Jones, DETR deputy director and Employment Security division administrator, “The letters will have specific instructions to prevent claimants from waiting unnecessarily on the phone lines. Claimants are asked to refrain from calling telephone claim centers until they receive this notification in the mail, signaling that their claim has been automatically reopened; the new funds have been added and that the agency is now ready for their weekly claims to be filed.”
MICHIGAN (www.michigan.gov/uia)
The Michigan Unemployment Insurance Agency posted a message on its website on July 22, 2010 which in part quotes UIA Director Stephen Geskey as saying: “We have teams of staff ready to process claims for the federal extensions and estimate that within two weeks, we should have most if not all federal unemployment benefit payments in the hands of those who are eligible for them.”
Geskey explained that there are two main groups that are affected by the restoration of the federal jobless benefits:
- 9,500 — Unemployed workers who exhausted their state unemployment benefits but did so after the federal Emergency Unemployment Compensation (EUC) and Extended Benefit (EB) programs had expired.
- 60,000 – Unemployed workers who had been receiving EB until that program ended with the week ending July 3.
For the 9,500 who exhausted their state benefits since July 3, letters will be sent to them with special instructions on how and when to apply for the federal extensions, Geskey explained.
For the 60,000 group, they simply need to continue contacting the state’s MARVIN system once every two weeks. And in cases where they may have stopped contacting MARVIN when their benefits were halted, UIA staff will contact these individuals directly for the information needed to pay them for any back weeks of unemployment to which they are entitled, Geskey added.
UIA expects to have payments issued to these two groups over the next two weeks, including any retroactive payments back to the week ending July 10. The benefits will either be added to the individual’s UI debit card or deposited in their bank account.
CALIFORNIA (http://www.edd.ca.gov/)
The California Employment Development Department (EDD) issued a press release on July 22 saying “The California Employment Development Department (EDD) has already begun processing the retroactive benefits. Staff will continue working through the weekend to issue checks for eligible claimants who were able to submit claim forms over the course of the weeks-long Congressional debate. The remaining customers will have extension claims automatically filed for them by EDD and will receive claim forms to complete and send back. There is no need to contact the department.”
The EDD said those who continued to submit their bi-weekly claims forms, the EDD should be able to start issuing checks to eligible claimants within the next few days. For those who didn’t, EDD will be sending claim forms to all affected customers next week.
FLORIDA (www.floridajobs.org)
The Florida Agency for Workforce Innovation on July 23 posted a message that unemployment extension recipients can begin certifying either online or by calling (800) 204-2418 within two weeks. The Agency added that certifying online is the quickest and most efficient way to process payments.
The website also announced that Governor Charlie Crist has signed an executive order which authorizes Floridians who qualify under the unemployment extension 2010 bill to be able to receive the benefits contained in the bill.
The message added, customers who are potentially eligible for these additional benefits will be notified by mail.
SOUTH CAROLINA (http://dew.sc.gov/)
The South Carolina Department of Employment and Workforce on July 23 said “’With the President’s approval this week of the unemployment extension bill, Workforce Centers statewide will be open this Saturday, July 24, to assist in processing claims.”
“In the interest of trying to help our claimants to receive the benefits they need, in as timely a manner as possible, we are making our offices available on Saturday morning,” said Executive Director John L. Finan. “These federally?funded Emergency Unemployment Compensation (EUC) and Extended Benefits (EB) are available to those who have exhausted their state?funded regular unemployment benefits and who meet other eligibility criteria,”
The site further said, eligible claimants who exhausted their benefits earlier this year, but have continued to file their weekly claim, will receive a lump?sum check for all of their eligible, unpaid weeks retroactive to June 5, and will continue to receive weekly benefits until they exhaust eligibility or fail to meet eligibility requirements. These individuals do not need to go to an office to receive their check or continue their weekly filing.
It is expected that these checks will be available and mailed to eligible recipients by Monday, the message on the site added.
Those who receive their unemployment benefits by direct deposit or debit card should have their payments a little sooner than those receiving checks through the mail. Those individuals who have not continued to file claims on a weekly basis will need to go to a local office for assistance and guidance.
ILLINOIS (http://www.ides.state.il.us)
In a statement posted on July 23, the Illinois Department of Employment Security said:
“If you are one of the over 100,000 Illinois claimants whose benefit payments were interrupted while the new law remained pending in Congress, the Department will release payments for all back weeks for which you are eligible as quickly as possible. There is no need for you to contact the Department unless you receive instructions to do so. Please ensure that you have submitted a bi-weekly certification using Teleserve or the Internet for all back weeks for which you believe you are eligible.”
July 25th Latest Update Parts 1, 2 and 3.
All247News will continue to monitor the scheduled releases for the other states.

In Illinois – So “back pay” may take some time… i have to certify next week, think i will get “current pay”. anyone?
The article says back pay will be ASAP, but I assuming that when you say “may take some time” you are referring to the speed of the illustrious State of Illinois employee which is somewhere between “very slow” & “I don’t care”.
Actually, the state did good this time by having people certify while the fillibuster was going on. In some states people have to certify first for the missing weeks. And also, Illinois is on the upper echelon on technology by have the direct deposit & debit card systems which speeds up fund distribution. Some states still cut checks.
I am hoping that we start seeing action Monday or Tuesday. You may want to check with the Teleserve system during 5:00 am & 7:30 am weekdays and hit option 3, put in SSN & password & then press 1. That will tell you if payments were processed.
Again, I am praying something happens Monday. I hate all this mystery.
Has anyone heard for sure if past payments will be placed on our debit cards or will they be paper checks….

WHAT BOUT MISSOURI UNEMPLOYMENT EXTENSIONS WHEN R WE SUPPOSE TO RECIEVE OUR MONEY
After June I recieved a letter that my Uneployment is exausted so I didn’t file a claim for those few weeks and finding a job in New Orleans in the summer is hard but in the meantime I will be in the unemployment line coming monday.
I live in Texas and I have to wait till August 4th to receive my unemployment money. It is going to be a welcome income to help out but, damn I have to wait until August. I am wondering if Texas does it by alphabetical names. Which I think is unfair since I have been waiting since June and now I have to wait till August to receive the payment. 2 full months.
I’m in the exact same boat in KY friend. June 20, was my last check. I’m so broke that for the first time in my 52 years I’m going to have to ask for emergency assistance. If I did get a call for an interview I would have to take the bus to it. I had to choose feeding my children over auto insurance and replacing worn out brakes on my car (the metal grinding metal kind of worn out). This is truly sad. I was only getting $250.00 a week and was eeking by on it. Now it’s going to cost more tax dollars to help me now than it would have if they would’ve just kept my unemployment going. Not my fault, so I don’t feel guilty. Especially after being taxed just as heavily as anyone else for nearly 40 years.
Good luck to you. To both of us…I’m afraid we’ll need it.
Hey Johnathan, I am also a Texas resident. I was told we would have payment BY Aug. 4th. I am praying that means they will be processing payments starting no later than Monday. I have to file tomorrow and I also hope we will be getting our regular payments on time. It would be nice if our state would shed a little bit of clarity on this subject!
I wouldn’t get my hopes up for at least 2 more weeks. Depending on how (if at all), your State Gov functions maybe a month. In case you missed it, here is some food for thought, and a definite case for voting the GOP completely off the planet.
I also seriously urge everyone affected by current economic conditions (not caused, but inherited by Obama, not to forget that the GOP used the ever shrinking middle as pawns in a game of partisan chess. That they delayed extensions another 30 hours (effectively a long weekend), simply out of spite…just because they could and for absolutely NO other reason. I beg you not to forget this at election time.
The time has come for “we the people” to take mattes into our own hands. Boycott!!
Stop buying goods manufactured overseas. You do NOT HAVE to have them. It isn’t necessary to your survival…in fact quite the opposite. If they want to pay someone in Vietnam, or Cambodia 25 cents an hour to make a pair of Nikes then sell them hear for $150.00, simply do not buy them. Look for the made in America seal. Once they lose the price gouged Americans as consumers, you will have hit them in the only place that can hurt them. The bottom line.
Now is the time for the Green Party to step up and we need to support them. Use your anger to lift them up. These are the people that want to help you. That’s why you never hear of them. They get no money from our tax dollars like the GOP and the Dem’s. A complete unknown just made the Senate in S.C. with no name and no money. This is how angry and fed up people are. It can be realized.
Not very upbeat for a sunny Saturday, but too serious to ignore.

The Middle Class in America Is Radically Shrinking. Here Are the Stats to Prove it
Posted Jul 15, 2010 02:25pm EDT by Michael Snyder in Recession

From The Business Insider
Editor’s note: Michael Snyder is editor of theeconomiccollapseblog.com
The 22 statistics detailed here
prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that the middle class is being systematically wiped out of existence in America.
The rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer at a staggering rate. Once upon a time, the United States had the largest and most prosperous middle class in the history of the world, but now that is changing at a blinding pace.
So why are we witnessing such fundamental changes? Well, the globalism and “free trade” that our politicians and business leaders insisted would be so good for us have had some rather nasty side effects. It turns out that they didn’t tell us that the “global economy” would mean that middle class American workers would eventually have to directly compete for jobs with people on the other side of the world where there is no minimum wage and very few regulations. The big global corporations have greatly benefited by exploiting third world labor pools over the last several decades, but middle class American workers have increasingly found things to be very tough.
Here are the statistics to prove it:
• 83 percent of all U.S. stocks are in the hands of 1 percent of the people.
• 61 percent of Americans “always or usually” live paycheck to paycheck, which was up from 49 percent in 2008 and 43 percent in 2007.
• 66 percent of the income growth between 2001 and 2007 went to the top 1% of all Americans.
• 36 percent of Americans say that they don’t contribute anything to retirement savings.
• A staggering 43 percent of Americans have less than $10,000 saved up for retirement.
• 24 percent of American workers say that they have postponed their planned retirement age in the past year.
• Over 1.4 million Americans filed for personal bankruptcy in 2009, which represented a 32 percent increase over 2008.
• Only the top 5 percent of U.S. households have earned enough additional income to match the rise in housing costs since 1975.
• For the first time in U.S. history, banks own a greater share of residential housing net worth in the United States than all individual Americans put together.
• In 1950, the ratio of the average executive’s paycheck to the average worker’s paycheck was about 30 to 1. Since the year 2000, that ratio has exploded to between 300 to 500 to one.
• As of 2007, the bottom 80 percent of American households held about 7% of the liquid financial assets.
• The bottom 50 percent of income earners in the United States now collectively own less than 1 percent of the nation’s wealth.
• Average Wall Street bonuses for 2009 were up 17 percent when compared with 2008.
• In the United States, the average federal worker now earns 60% MORE than the average worker in the private sector.
• The top 1 percent of U.S. households own nearly twice as much of America’s corporate wealth as they did just 15 years ago.
• In America today, the average time needed to find a job has risen to a record 35.2 weeks.
• More than 40 percent of Americans who actually are employed are now working in service jobs, which are often very low paying.
• or the first time in U.S. history, more than 40 million Americans are on food stamps, and the U.S. Department of Agriculture projects that number will go up to 43 million Americans in 2011.
• This is what American workers now must compete against: in China a garment worker makes approximately 86 cents an hour and in Cambodia a garment worker makes approximately 22 cents an hour.
• Approximately 21 percent of all children in the United States are living below the poverty line in 2010 – the highest rate in 20 years.
• Despite the financial crisis, the number of millionaires in the United States rose a whopping 16 percent to 7.8 million in 2009.
• The top 10 percent of Americans now earn around 50 percent of our national income.
Giant Sucking Sound
The reality is that no matter how smart, how strong, how educated or how hard working American workers are, they just cannot compete with people who are desperate to put in 10 to 12 hour days at less than a dollar an hour on the other side of the world. After all, what corporation in their right mind is going to pay an American worker 10 times more (plus benefits) to do the same job? The world is fundamentally changing. Wealth and power are rapidly becoming concentrated at the top and the big global corporations are making massive amounts of money. Meanwhile, the American middle class is being systematically wiped out of existence as U.S. workers are slowly being merged into the new “global” labor pool.
What do most Americans have to offer in the marketplace other than their labor? Not much. The truth is that most Americans are absolutely dependent on someone else giving them a job. But today, U.S. workers are “less attractive” than ever. Compared to the rest of the world, American workers are extremely expensive, and the government keeps passing more rules and regulations seemingly on a monthly basis that makes it even more difficult to conduct business in the United States.
So corporations are moving operations out of the U.S. at breathtaking speed. Since the U.S. government does not penalize them for doing so, there really is no incentive for them to stay.
What has developed is a situation where the people at the top are doing quite well, while most Americans are finding it increasingly difficult to make it. There are now about six unemployed Americans for every new job opening in the United States, and the number of “chronically unemployed” is absolutely soaring. There simply are not nearly enough jobs for everyone.
Many of those who are able to get jobs are finding that they are making less money than they used to. In fact, an increasingly large percentage of Americans are working at low wage retail and service jobs.
But you can’t raise a family on what you make flipping burgers at McDonald’s or on what you bring in from greeting customers down at the local Wal-Mart.
The truth is that the middle class in America is dying — and once it is gone it will be incredibly difficult to rebuild.
You might be a right wing Republican if…
* … you think the right to life ends at birth.
* … you think that corporations have more compassion than humans.
* … you think trickle down economics actually trickles down.
* … you understand that getting people to vote on abortion issues will keep you in office and let you pass tax cuts for the upper class.
* You think that the best way to protect people from illegal drugs is to put them in prison.
* You think “compassionate conservatism” is when you feel sorry for the homeless guy sleeping in the gutter as you step over him on your way to a $1000 a plate fundraiser for Tom Delay.
* You are opposed to increasing the minimum wage and in favor of repealing taxes on inherited wealth.
* You are opposed to Affirmative Action in college admissions and attended a private university as a “legacy.”
* You really believe that cutting taxes increases government revenues.
* You believe in “Liberty and Justice for All” (rich, white, men)
* You rant and rave about Liberals but have never actually met any.
* You actually think that Fox News does not “spin.”
* You are rotating so fast that you think Fox News is standing still and the rest of the world is spinning.
* You dodged the draft during Viet Nam (with Daddy’s help) and now you question the courage and patriotism of men who came back with medals (and scars) and understand wars are bad.
* You think that a president lying about getting a bl*wj*b is far more serious than a president lying about the reasons for starting a war.
* You think it is treasonous for a newspaper to report that the government is lying, using torture, invading someone’s privacy or breaking the law but think it’s okay for them to expose the identity of a covert CIA agent for partisan purposes.
J:
I agree with the idea of boycott. The only effective place we can hit them is in their wallet. I just moved to another state a few months ago to go back to school. From what I’ve been reading about people not being able to get a job after they’ve retrained, I question the wisdom of my move, but that’s what I’m doing. I came here with what I could get in my 10-year-old SUV. I’m furnishing my $395/mo apartment with furniture that I find on Craigslist. I’m taking my time and getting the best deals that I can and trying to make things match somewhat. In the meantime, I’m sleeping on an air mattress on the floor. That’s all cool with me. I have the basics that I need. We can all make an impact. We have the numbers. There will not be any increases in the GDP because of purchases that I make. I’m biding my time and I’m going to buy used everywhere I can. I know that some businesses will be caught in the crossfire, but we’ve all been collateral damage in a political war for way too long. We’ve been bloodied and bruised and it’s time to fight back with the weapons that we have. Button it up, buy American and if you can, buy something used is my motto. By buying used, you may be helping out a person who is in the same boat. When I’m done with school, my plan is to sell everything that I’ve picked up and move on. I can tell you for certain that if Mother Teresa herself was still alive and ran for office on a Republican ticket, I’d have to vote against her.
Sorry for the typo…I meant to say you do NOT have to have them (goods manufactured overseas). LarouchePAC.com if you want some truth in your life.
Have you tried to find a positive statistic?
You sound like an intellegent person. I always see
what I’m looking for.
Not much for liberal, progressive, conservative, democrat, tea party, independant or republican.
Easy to get lost in statistics; As many positive ones as
negative ones.
Happy to be alive here in America though.
I’m not a moral conservative, but I can still be proud
to say “GOD BLESS AMERICA!”
By the way, I’m way below middle class and I am employeed with a 401k, get 19 hours a week, and my retirement plan says I’m right on track. In fact a lot of thoughs stats really don’t fit in my life. I mean the state has always paid my healthcare because I don’t make enough. I’m caucasion with a less that average education and I work my _ss off every chance I get. I have plenty on my plate with a harder time getting stuff like food stamps and welfare (if that even exists). My girlfriend of 13 years wants more than I provide, but we enjoy life more often than not. ONLY IN AMERICA, BUDDY!
Notice there is no update for Hawaii. Friday was a furlough day for them. Who knows how long until they send out notifications of eligibility. Who knows how long after that, they process paperwork allowing people to certify. Who knows how long after that they issue checks.
Governor Linda Lingle and Pearl Imada Iboshi (Director of the DLIR) should be working hard on a solution to implement this extension in an expedient manner but they are NOT.
It’s been 8 weeks since EUC lapsed and they still have nothing on their website about the newest extension. They should all be ashamed.
There are a lot of politicians that should be ashamed. The words “career” and “politician” should never be used in the same sentence.
Any news about Mississippi?
Well I have not received any checks since Memorial Day! My vouchers have not come up to claim while all this mess was going on. I have all my weekly job applications paper clipped to add hopefully when the voucher screens do come up. 2 full months now without any income. I checked the Indiana website and it says may take up to 2 weeks to re progam the system? I had a phone interview this week. Hopefully this will be over soon with a new job.
Any news about Colorado?
Mississippi processed payments today. I continued t
to file my certifications it shows that lump sum will be paid Monday. Thank you GOD!
Don’t blame me,i vote Democrat!
The best thing I can say is to call the UC office and speak to a live person and ask them to release your funds. That is what I did and the person did it over the phone. I ask if they would of done it if I did not call and she said they would of got around to it at SOME point but because I was on the phone with her she would just do it now. I would def call. I called on Friday and today on the website it has my payment release date as 7/24 so should get my deposit on Mnday…. I hope LOL I am broke… LOL Good luck everyone.. This is in Pa anyway
What I find hilariously disgusting is the fact that some states have already started working on processing these claims and are going to be paying people next week, California is not the only one, yet other states like Nevada ( mine ) are holding onto said funds for 7-14 days and then “starting” to process them.
Can we say interest bearing accounts that have “the peoples money” in them, but the state is profiting. Ya I understand it takes time to process these things. However when I called the Gov’s office their excuse was and I will quote “They need to reprogram the entire computer system in order to process the data.” When I replied, every state in the union is on a computerized system yet other states are moving faster, the replied ” well Nevada was slower getting onto the computerized system.” The fact Nevada has had the computerized system for over 5 years now, I smell a lie.
Thanks Nevada, you sure know how to treat your people. And before someone comes in here to blah blah blah me. You don’t live there nor probably never have. You don’t know the amount of money wasted on corrupt business practices that are backed by the state. In other words, don’t comment on an issue you don’t know about.
Florida isn’t any better!
I haven’t seen anything since the beginning of June, and now they are saying it will be a couple more weeks. Meanwhile Indiana did not make vouchers available all this time so are we going to put in eight weeks of vouchers? How will they work that. I have read that the states that kept the vouchers going some folks are already recieving the moneys. Since I see no updates for Indiana this is the update they have on uplink: July 22, 2010
The federal government has renewed the federal unemployment extensions. The measure would provide back payments to eligible Hoosiers, but it does not provide additional weeks for people who have already exhausted the Extended Benefits (EB) program. It will take a couple of weeks to reprogram our computer system and restore benefits to eligible Hoosiers. Check back here for updates.
Yet this took one week to cut us off. A couple weeks? Is that two three what? I am hungry now the lights will be off Weds. I agree with the “very slow” & “I don’t care” above statement!
HI , MY NAME IS MARK DICKSON AND ALL MY UNEMPLOYMENT RAN OUT , BUT I’M STILL LOOKING FOR JOBS WHERE THERE’S IS NONE ,SO HOW DO I GET UNEMPLOYMENT IF ALL IS USED UP , I KNOW I HAVEN’T USED UP ALL MY UNEMPLOYMENT ,SO I PUT MONEY IN THE SYSTEM BUT CAN’T GET IT WHEN I NEED IT , THAT’S LIKE A BANK TELLING YOU YOU CAN’T HAVE YOUR OWN MONEY THATS IN YOUR ACCOUNT , LAWS AND RULE ALWAY BENEFIT THOSE WHO HAVE THE POWER TO CONTROL PEOPLE LIVES , NO DIFFERENT THAT THEY WANTED TO UP SOCIAL SECURITY , BUT I GOVERNMENT CARES FOR IT’S PEOPLE , YEAH RIGHT ONLY CARE FOR THEMSELVES NOTHIN ELSE , LIES , LIES AND MORE LIES
WILL MY MICHIGAN EUC UNEMPLOYMENT BENEFITS BE RESTORED?
THE LAST WEEK I WAS PAID A BENEFIT WAS FOR THE WEEK ENDING 06/05/2010, AND IT WAS THE LAST PAYMENT ON TIER II OF MY EUC. DUE TO THE EUC PROGRAM EXPIRING ON 06/02/2010, I WAS UNABLE TO MOVE TO TIER III. WILL I GET BACK PAY? WILL I BE ABLE TO MEVE TO THE NEXT TIER? WILL MY BENEFITS BE RESTORED? AND WHAT WOULD MAKE YOU INELIGABLE,IS THERE NEW LANGUAGE IN THIS BILL? BEFORE THE BILL WAS PASSED IT WAS STATED THAT THE BILL WOULD RESTORE BENEFITS AND BE RETROACTIVE FOR 85,000 PEOPLE. HOWEVER, NEWS REPORTS SAY THE UNEMPLOYMENT DIRECTOR OF MICHIGAN STATED THAT ONLY PEOPLE ON EB(EXTENDED BENEFITS, 60,000) WHOSE BENEFITS HAD EXPIRED ON OR AFTER 07/03/2010 AND PEOPLE WHO HAD EXHUASTED THE STATE UI(9,500) AND HAD NOT MOVED TO EUC TIER I BECAUSE THE PROGRAM HAD EXPIRED WOULD BE PAID. WHAT HAPPENED TO THE OTHER 15,500 PEOPLE?
I don’t live in Michigan, so I can’t answer all of your questions. But I, too, received a check long after I thought my Tier 2 was exhausted. When I called to see what it was about, I was told that in Tier 2, they did a thing called a “tiny Tier 2″. They didn’t really know why, but they told me that it wasn’t a mistake and didn’t have an effect on further tiers. Also, they told me that if I qualified for Tier 2, I would qualify for Tier 3, but I can’t tell you that that would be the same in every state.
Fed Up, I’m from Michigan also. You will be able to go to the next Tier. Go to michigan.gov/uia and click on Information about Federal Extensions and it explains everything clearly. I was on Tier III and couldn’t go to Tier IV so they put me on EB until July 3rd. So now I’m wondering how they are going to address this. Are they going to pay me retroactively for Tier IV and let me continue on EB or let me finish out the EB and then put me on Tier IV. I’m going to call first thing in the morning to find out.
Any News about New Mexico’s ?
Our state is saying it is going to take two weeks to get us all back in the system. It sure did not take that long to cut us off. Why is it they can play with us for two months, now our states get to play games. Are you kidding me? I know if they really wanted to get this done fast they could and would. If it were money’s in the pockets of a politician or money they got to spend it would be there tomorrow. This is not in time to save my home or millions of others. My lights will be off sometime next week they simply do not want to hear my issues, I haven’t’ had my medicine in six weeks. I am very hungry, Does anyone care we are hungry? I found a gas station that lets me have the sandwiches they through away. But if the gal gets caught giving them to me she gets fired. What has our America become? I am so ashamed, I have applied for any and every job I can. I have applied at McDonalds who told me no I am over quilified.
I am a Texas resident. For any of you reading this, it appears that they, Texas, are paying out the back payments, along with the 25.00 weekly stimulus, as you do your normal claim certification. I did my claim request today and the website shows that the total amount is being processed tomorrow. So, it will be loaded onto my debit card and available on Tuesday.
DON’T FORGET TO SUPPRT THE TIER 5 EXTENSIONS!!!!!!
GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE!!!!!!!!
UPDATE: CALLED MICHIGAN UIA THIS MORNING 8 A.M., WAS TOLD I WAS OWED 7 WEEKS AND MY CLAIM HAD TO BE SENT OVER TO “ANOTHER DEPARTMENT” TO BE PROCESSED FOR ME TO BE PAID. THE AGENT SAID 5-7 DAYS BUT IT MAY TAKE LESS. IF IN DOUBT CALL YOUR STATE UI AGENCY AND THEY WILL BEST BE ABLE TO ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS YOU MAY HAVE AND IT MAY EXPEDITE YOUR PAYMENT.
I just got off the phone with Florida’s Unemployment office and was told as soon as it becomes a law! The twit told me it is still in “stage 1″, whatever that is. So in turn, I ask, “So..the president didn’t sign the bill”? She replies, “I don’t know”. Instead of ripping her a new one I hung up. She probably is only doing what she is told so she won’t become one of us! lol
Here’s another cute one. I spoke with Virginia and they are telling me that they have to wait for the Dept of Labor to give them guidelines and try to load their computers. I told them last time mine as well as thousands of others never got into the system and that I had to call every week to have it entered manually.
VA Dept of Labor was no help either!
This is not a joke, but a travesty! I asked them how am I suppose to look for work without any money to put gas in my car? They told me u have to search or u will not get any money! They don’t listen nor care! Search, where, there are no jobs to be had! Like I told them u tell me where I can be guaranteed a job and affordable housing and I will gladly go there!
I say put all the law makers and unemployment office workers out of work, force them to live like we are and then perhaps some real action will take place!
I want my money NOW!!! NOT when and if they get off their duffs!
Ban and Stop Immediately the Outsourcing! That will bring alot of jobs back to the USA and put alot of people back to work!
If a company still wants to outsource outside of the USA they should be forced to pay a heavy fine that should be put into a pool and dispensed to those who aren’t employed!
Also, whatever happened to the raise of the minimum wage to $10 a hour that was suppose to happen this month?
I live in Florida. I just called our unemployment office and the message stated letters would be mailed if you qualify, and those elgible will be automatically re-enrolled. When I spoke to a representative on the phone she told me, and I quote, “I don’t know nothing about any extension…we haven’t been told anything so I guess you will just have to wait and see.”
These people don’t have a clue. My state benefits ran out June 5th, and to this date I have not received anything telling me my benefits ended. I found out when I logged in to claim benefits and was told I had no weeks to claim.
ANY WORD ON GEORGIA…????
im in illinos and today someone from claimant services told me they recieved an email saying tonight they will be loading the computers to process the payment of people who exhausted their first tier before or on june 5th. my next call in date is next monday , she told me shedid not know if i would be paid this week or next week.
Oooops. All of the checks were lost in the mail.
Something told me that we were going to wait again for somethng that belongs to us. YOU PEOPLE NEED TO WAKE UP, GUESS WHATS GOIG TO HAPPEN IN NOVEMBER?
Does anyone have a list of the states that have got back benefits and what virginia is doing?
esto es una mierda QUIERO MI DINERO YA!!! estos politicos son unos coruptos!!! I want my money i have alo of bills to pay!!!!
I also live in Illinois.I have been waiting for my payments all week. I have 2 outstanding payemnts and have to certify next wk. I keep checking teleserve daily. Anyone heard an update on payments?
update: called MARVIN (michigans auto-voice) and selected inquiry. my payment was made today. should receive on debt card tonight(12am) or friday night(12am). will keep you guys updated i know everyone is as anxious and behind on bills as i am. good luck and gods blessings!
And here we are. Nevada is waiting on the US Dept of Labor to hand down instructions on how to distribute the funds. So in turn, no letters have been mailed yet even though they stated “within 7-10 days of the bill passing letters will be mailed out.” Its been a week and I called and they aren’t even planning on mailing the letters.
What is funny is I called the US Dept of Labor and they were quite helpfull. They told me that they had no idea what I was talking about. The funds have already been alotted. They are supposed to get back to me either today or tomorrow with a possible answer. However, the gal I talked to and her supervisor were up in arms on what Nevada is saying.
I guess its time for me to call the Senators office again to find out what the hell.
Mr. Darren if what you are saying is true we need to band together because I was told this same BS by a DETR Rep this morning and was told that my letter has still not been sent out after this Bit*h from the DETR told the local TV station in Reno that they were fixing their computer system to process all of the new claims and that we would all be getting letters telling us that our money is in our accounts and ready to go. She told the news that the letters would be sent out on Thursday 07/29/2010 it’s now been 5 days and when I didn’t get my letter I called them and they told my my letter has still not been sent out and they were waiting for the Department of Labor to send the money and instructions just like they told you. We need to contact Senator Reid ASAP and make his office get to the bottom of this NOW or we will go to the local media and let them know about this scam!
How do you think that would help Senator Reid’s re-election chances if people knew that this bill he help pass is not getting the money out to the people and he is doing nothing to investigate and fix it?
I live in Henderson and will be contacting Dina Titus and Reid’s offices first this in the morning and will not stop until I have money released to my account within the next 48 hrs or I’m going public!
hi jim, just wondering if you heard anything more, i have not received a letter yet! but my roommate was able to go online and choose option 4 and now has a positive balance on his account, which last week he tried and he wasn’t able too. i am not able too. i also have not been able to get through to detr!! any information you might have will help. thanx
Florida’s Unemployment Office Sucks. They need to get on the ball with this.
I agree this is taking to long.I have been without money for 8 weeks now. They need to get on the ball and back pay everyone, this is so not right.
California – Sacramento 8/2/2010

a week later. So cal zero cks
Florida still hasn’t gotten their act together.. It’s August 4th now and there still isn’t an option for me to file for an extension or claim weeks online. It still shows that I’m NOT eligible.
I only got 3 months of unemployment..
Hi Simon, I am in the same boat. The website says we have to certify by August 9, in 5 days, but so far I haven’t received a letter. If Florida waits until the last minute, their website will not be able to handle the traffic. Good Luck to you.
I think that the states are holding our money for interest. I am not on unemployment but my husband is. I had same problems with child support. My ex would show me where the check had cleared and it was over TWO weeks before it was in my account. Think about how much interest all of that unemployment and child support money would earn in just 1 week. We are talking about millions (or more?) of dollars in interest earned. I smell a dirty rotten PIG known as the state of FLORIDA. SHAME ON YOU.
If u call 877 846 8770 press 0 and a rep will be able to help you make sure, you leave name ssn# a contact phn#.
I call a rep return my call & was able came 9 weeks retroactive. (floridians)
I just called Florida again this week. The first time I called days after it was signed into law by Governor Crist – yes, Florida had legislation that didn’t allow the unemployed to receive EB and the Florida Senate was saying we’d have to wait until… maybe next year when they might talk about it and this was AFTER it was signed into law by the President. Well anyway, the second time I called I was told possibly August 9th but keep checking. This week I called and the girl said that even though the website gives that date of August 9 (EXCLUSIVE OF EXTENDED BENEFIT RECIPIENTS) and even though they told whoever wrote this article that it would be a few weeks… that the truth is they really don’t know anything yet, not even when they might start the process of mailing out letters to notify people who are eligible. I asked her when she thought they might begin mailing these letters and she said “We really don’t know. We have no idea even when letters will begin to go out. that hasn’t happened yet and we don’t know when it will. You’ll just have to wait to see if a letter comes but when? Oh we really don’t know anything about it.” I then asked her about the August 9th date and the “few weeks” mentioned in this article and she said, “Oh no, I don’t know where you’re getting that from but it’s just not true. We haven’t even started with letters and have no idea when we might begin.” I asked her if that meant it could be a few more months wait and she said “Sure, absolutely. It may take that long. You’ll just have to wait and see.” So in Florida – WE MAY BE WAITING FOR A FEW MORE MONTHS. LAST TIME IT TOOK TWO MONTHS AFTER FEDERAL APPROVAL TO REINSTATE EXTENDED BENEFITS (not EUC) and then the entire thing was paid RETROACTIVE in one check AFTER the expiration date. From what I’m hearing from Florida’s Unemployment Office they plan on doing this again – waiting until the end and paying out one check to those eligible for extended benefits. So, maybe in December?
Bad News!!! If you are on extended benifits and your balance is zero then you don’t an extension. This extension dont apply to us, it only extends the dates and not the funds! We got screwed! I just got off the phone with them.
